More of our story

We had the boys in home for 2 and a half years. In that time, they grew into little irreplacable members of our family. We were told we'd have a 99% chance of adopting them and were in the process of adopting two other little girls, sisters that had been placed in our home. However, as with any other kids, we never got our hopes up because we knew there was always the chance of the kids being sent back. It had happened before.

Their young mother was given a case plan, and then given time and time again to work it. She was told by the judge that she needed parenting classes, she needed a stable place for she and the kids to live, and a job.

Time and time again her deadling came and went and the judge would extend it. And extend it. At this point he would have been able to have a custody hearing, but he gave her chance after chance.

Several weeks until her final deadline, suddenly M got her act together. Her mom got her a job at the factory she worked at. M got herself an older boyfriend, a co-worker, who got her a car, an apartment.

In a court case that eventually changed the course of our lives, the judge awarded custody back to the mother.
